SuperAntiSpyware Review

SUPERAntiSpyware is a software application distributed as shareware for the detection and removal of malware applications. Although it can detect such computer threats, it is not designed to replace antivirus software.

SUPERAnti-Spyware’s virus definitions are updated several times a week. It is especially designed to work with other security applications, so it can be used even when those other applications are incompatible with anti-malware products.

BootSafe, a program that facilitates booting into Safe Mode, is also included.

SUPERAntiSpyware received a 75/100 rating. The program detected and removed all the samples in the test case and was rated powerful and highly effective. Both the freeware and commercial version received a 4 out of 5 star average user rating Download.com. SUPERAntiSpyware received a “GOOD” rating from PC Magazine that said it installed quickly and had a full scan faster than others.

The newly released version was designed to enhance rather than replace existing security software.

It also features a user interface completely redesigned for easier use, including accessibility for visually-impaired users, and lower system overhead with almost no impact on the computer system’s performance while it scans and protects.

    Additional new features include:

  • Faster and more powerful scanning engine
  • Improved real-time protection to stop threats from installing and controlling the computer
  • Reduction in definition database size for faster updates and less system usage
  • Improved conflict-free use with other anti-spyware/anti-virus products
  • New Critical Point Scan provides results in as little as 20 seconds
  • Advanced system that can repair damage done by malware

“We’ve improved nearly every facet of the SUPERAntiSpyware real-time
protection engine, having re-written it from the ground up to be lighter on system resources and provide an even more powerful line of defense against zero-day threats, while maintaining its reputation as being particularly effective against hard-to-detect malware,” said Nick Skrepetos, CTO of Consumer Software for Support.com.

Germans most aware of online threats, Russians believe the most security myths

Computer users in Germany are the best informed about the threats lurking online. Their Russian counterparts, on the other hand, may fall victim to more online scams because of their trust in security myths.

Americans fall somewhere in the middle, but are still “dangerously out-of-touch with the sophistication of today’s threat landscape,” said antivirus provider G Data Software, Inc. in a study published on June 24.

The study found that almost 89 percent of Americans use some type of security software to protect their computers.

Russia had the lowest number of users with a security solution installed (83 percent), while the UK had the highest at 94 percent.
